It all started at the Riptide restaurant/lounge one Summer in 1988 on San Juan Island. My good friend Joe happened to be a server there. One day he asked me how fast I could go home and bring back my home stereo system explaining that the band that was booked to play that night was going to be a no-show. It sounded like a fun break from the norm, so I made the round trip in record time. I hooked up my 150 watt Fisher stereo and laid out my entire collection of 24 cd's. I probably had more cd's than anyone else in town at that time. For some strange reason people still had a good time with the limited music selections and at the end of the night I collected what I recall being a whopping $75. After that night word got around and I played music a few times for a few small private parties. Come Summertime I got the idea to talk to the folks at Roche Harbor Resort, at the north end of the Island. They started offering me to their wedding customers and I've been playing there and around western Washington ever since.

DJ Doug
Backstory
There are several concerns people have about hiring DJ's
Is the DJ going to be an obnoxious goofball that is constantly on the mic?
Is the DJ going to play a bunch of obscure songs nobody knows?
Is he going to embarrass everyone by pulling grandma up to dance the macarena?
Will the DJ work with what we want to hear,
or will we be stuck listening to him do 'his thing' ?
DJ Doug is all about the music and not concerned with creating attention for himself. Moments on the microphone are short and sweet. The main focus is always on the peoples needs. Clients are given full control of the music by preparing their own play list via this interactive web site. If the client's list runs short, selections will be made based on popular hits that everyone can enjoy. Oh yeah.............. poor grandma is safe because DJ Doug isn't terribly fond of the macarena :)
